  1. Well Mrs. Breen

    1) Unoka affects Okonkwo as a child as well as a grown man because he is no a successful man, always in debt, the fact hat his father has no title or that even worse that he is called Agbala which means women obsessed him with the pursuit to be known as a strong man.

    2) Oknkwo values everything his father does not value.

    3) Based on what I've read so far, what might happen to Okonkwo is that his fear to be like his father will bring his destruction.

  4. I believe that Unoka in his life was very irresponsible but at the same time that was his way of being, that was his character. Although that was his personality, it did affect Okonkwo in his adult life because he felt as if he was carrying with him all the troubles of his father.

  6. 1) Unka’s life affect Okonkwo as a child as well as a man because Okonkwo wanted to be different. He did not wanted to be like his father a person that was always in debt. Okonkwo wants to be a better person and he wanted toprove that he was different from his father.

    2) Oknokwo values the respect of others to not be known like his father because his father did not value what he had.

3)what might happen to Okonkwo as the novel progresses is that the wrong things that his father did it might help Okonkwo with his own future, to know what is right and wrong to do.

  7. 1.Unokas life effect Oknokwo as a child and man because Unoka is a man who always borrows money from the village leaving him in debt. He likes to drink and Oknokwo wouldnt see him as a role model or as if he is doing good for his life.
2.Oknokwo values everything thats his father doesnt value knowing that what the father values isnt the right thing
    3. What might happen to Okonkwo is that he will go farther and farther away from his father not liking how he is. Going far away from his father might lead him to become just like his father.

  8. 1) How does Unoka's life affect Okonkwo as a child as well as a man?

Unika's life affects Okonkwo as a child as well as a man because since his father was always getting intoxicated he wasnt able to see him as a sucessful man.

    2) What does Okonkwo value?

He values everything his father doesnt value including his family and pride.

    3) Based on what you have read so far, what might happen to Okonkwo as the novel progresses?

I believe that Okonkwo is going to be sucessful and his father is going to stay behind. The influence of alcohol and brainwash a person into being something they arent. His father will be left with nothing in the end because he didnt appreciate what he had.

  9. #1 - Unoka's life affects Okonkwo as a child and as well as a man because he is basically given all the bad luck. Like Raymond said, he is always in debt, always borrowing money, and lives a poor life. What he's doing in his life is nothing productive or good for himself. His father also doesn't have a title which makes it worse for him.

#2 - Okonkwo values everything that he is not supposed to value. For example, he values the things that aren't the right choice for him or that his father didnt value.

#3 - Based on what I have read so far, what I think might happen to Okonkwo as the novel progresses is that by him trying to be something big and unlike his father he will eventually come to be like him because of his harsh and cruel ways. Yet again I agree to some degree with what Darbely said, and maybe he will posibly change.

  10. 1: The reason why Unika's life affects Okonkwo as a child as well as a man is because he wanted to be better then his father. Like Yosiely said his father wasnt that much of a good guy, he was intoxicated alot and Okonkwo wanted to be someone better. Okonkwo is not really a good person at all. He is always in debt like Raymond said and he is also always getting himself into problems mainly because he is always owing money.Okonkwo in the story is rying to be succesful and turn into a better man then his father.

2: Okonkwo Values pretty much his life and family. He values mainly everything his father did trying to be better then him like everyone has said.

3: From reading the story I believe that later on he will try so hard to not be like his father that hes going to start being like him.

  11. 1)Unoka's life affect Okonkwo as a child as well as a man because okonkwo wanted to be something that was the complete oposite of his father. He wanted to be better than his father and known for something good not a man that lived in his fathers shadows. When Okonkwo was a child he defeated the "cat" and was known for that.
2)the things that Okonkwo value is hard work and never giving up. he thinks the harder you work the more people will see you as a leader. he also values not accepting laziness not even from his son
3)based on what i read i think as the novel progresses Okonkwo will try so hard to not have people see him as his father that he will forget who he really is

i agree with Anycia with her response of question three because after you try so hard to not be like someone in the long run you slowly start to be like them so its better to be your self

  12. 1. Unoka affects Onkonwos life as a child and man in a negative way. Like Stephanie said UNoka basically gives Onkonwo bad luck with everything he does. Unoka was looked down upon because he was always in debt and had no land, the same thing happened to his son. Onkonwo was known for being strong and his father was known for playing his flute. Onkonwo disliked his father because he gave him all this bad luck in life.
    2. He values hardwork, land, and never giving up; he also values everything his father never valued, like life itself.
    3. I think Onkonwo will become rich and everything will ghet better for him in life.

  13. #1 - Unoka's life affects Okonkwo as a child because he is seen as a man who is not successful. He was in a lot of debt but he never paid no one back any of the money he had borrowed. He was more of a lover than a fighter and this is ironic because hes son grows up to be the best wrestler in all the villages. Okonkwo was ashamed at the name his father had created for himself. Okonkwo was young but was everything hes father was not.
#2 - Okonkwo values many things that hes father did not value. He values hes family and what others think of him.Since his father's reputation was ruin ,Okonkwo knew he would work hard to be the opposite of him.
#3- As the novel progresses i believe Okonkwo will go through a period in hes life where "things fall apart" ! Not all hard workers have it easy even if they do put in 100 % .

I agree with Anycia and because of him wanting to be some much not like his father he will probaly end up dead just like Glady said .

  14. 1) Unoka's life affect Okonkwo as a child as well as a man because Okonkwo was not very successful and he owed money and he never paid it back. He did not want to be like his father.
    2) Okonkwo values his family and hard work. he valued everything that his father did not.

3)i think that things might go bad but then more into the book things will get better for him. he will end up being happy

  15. 1.Unoka's life affect Okonkwo as a child as well as a man because Unoka wasnt a sucessful man and had many bad choices that caused him to go into debt. His actions affected Okonkwo life and he wasnt never the same.
    2. Okonkwo values many things. He values his life and how hw has a farm, family, and could work hard unlike his father.
    3. what might happen to Okonkwo is he will keep trying to change and not become like his father.

  16. 1) Unokas life life affects Okonkwo as a child because his fathers actions reflect on him aslo. Unoka's actions affect Okonkwo child hood to an extant where everyone will look at Okonkwo as just a son of a failure.Unokas affects Okonkwo as a man because Okonkwo see's how his father is and he wants to be the complete opposite of him. Okonkwo wants to be a man of his word and resects by others.

2)Okonkwo values what his father doesn't which is his family, pride, being a man of his word, and also valueing the fact that you have to work hard in life to get the things you deserve.

    3) I think that once the novel gets more into depth Okonkwo will find who he is but some how still be dragged into his fathers traits because he is his father son. No mater how hard Okonkwo will try i think he will still fall short and be a man just like his father.

i agree with Yoshi maybe Okonkwo's father will end up with nothing because he didnt value anything in life and was a responsible and prideful man that he should have to show his son how to be when he grows up.

  17. 1) How does Unoka's life affect Okonkwo as a child as well as a man?

Unoka's life affects Okonkwo as a child as well as a man because he didnt turn out to be how he wanted to. He was a very unsuccessful man who was in debt with everything and didnt like to pay anyone back. And Okonkwo being the son of Unoka might be seen differently and people might reflect to him in a different way.

    2) What does Okonkwo value?

Okonwo values everything his father didnt.
Starting with all his farms, family, everything he does and most importantly his life and reputation.

    3) Based on what you have read so far, what might happen to Okonkwo as the novel progresses?

Based on what i read, what i think might happen to Okonkwo as the novel progresses is what ely said. That, he might try to come and fix all the mistakes his father did and bam everything just falls apart and everythings the same.

  18. 1) How does Unoka's life affect Okonkwo as a child as well as a man?
Unoka's life affects Okonkwo as a man and as a child by making others see him as a not responsible person and will probably see him the same way his father was.

    2) What does Okonkwo value?
Okonkwo values mostly the opposite of what his father values. Okonkwo has a family and a farm in which he values.
    3) Based on what you have read so far, what might happen to Okonkwo as the novel progresses?

I feel like as the novel progresses Okonkwo is going to have to face something based on what his father has done in the past and its going to affect him.

  19. 1) Unoka affects Okonkwo as a child as well as a grown man because he is not a successful man, he is always in debt, and the fact fact that his father has no title or that even worse that he is called Agbala which means women obsessed him with the calling to be known as a strong man. Always catching up with himself.

    2) Oknkwo values everything his father does not value. He values family, working hard, and a reputation.

    3) Based on what I've read so far, what might happen to Okonkwo is that his fear to be like his father will bring his destruction. If not then things will "fall apart".

  20. 1- Unoka is poor and unsuccesful in farming meaning he has a miserable life and this affects Okonkwo because he has to suffer as well.
2- Oknkwo does value everything his father didnt.
3- On what i read, Okonkwo is going to keep on messing up and will end up falling apart if he doesnt catch up with himself.

  22. 1) How does Unoka's life affect Okonkwo as a child as well as a man?
Unoka's life affects Okonkwo as a child because his friends would make fun of his father by calling him a woman and a man with no titles. This embarrassed him a lot. It affected Okonkwo because he was then determined to not be like his father. He did everything his father didn't do in order to be nothing like him.

    2) What does Okonkwo value?
Okonkwo values everything his father doesn't value. He values hard work.

    3) Based on what you have read so far, what might happen to Okonkwo as the novel progresses?
Okonkwo might be given another title?

    1. Unoka's life affects Okonkwo as a child as well as a man because as a child Unoka did not grow up the same way as other young boys. For example, he did not inherit a farm like other boys. He grew up feeling the shame of his father so as an adult he decided to become the opposite man of his father to be respected.

    2. Okonkwo values everything that his father did not. He values labor, independence and fear.

    3. Based on what i have read so far, what might happen to Okonkwo as the novel progresses is that he might undergo a series of events that will make him realize he is more like his father than what he thought.

    * i agree with Scarlet because i do think he’s going to end up being like his father even though that’s what he spent his whole life trying to avoid

  24. I agree to what Belenys said about what might happen to Okonkwo further in the novel because children do carry traits of their parents so it could happen to Okonkwo as well.

  25. I know that this post is really late but I am hoping it is accepted for partial credit at the least.

    1. Unoka's life has in fact affected Okonkwo's life as a child as well as a man. As a child, Okonkwo was raised in a household where money was not properly managed and alcohol was heavily used. Unlike the many other children in the village, Okonkwo was made fun not because of his personal being but because of his father's behavior and being.
Unoka was an irresponsible man who did not know how to manage his money or take proper care of his family. He held no title and had the name of a woman. Because of this, the children in the village made fun of Okonkwo and like his father, this made Okonkwo's life miserable.
The environment Unoka raised Okonkwa also affected how Okonkwa grew to be a man. You would think that because Okonkwa's father was irresponsible, he would grow up to follow in his footsteps, but to the surprise of many of the characters, he did not. Okonkwa become very successful at an early age after he defeated The Cat in a wrestling match. I believe that he became very successful because he used his father's mistakes and shameful past to push him to become a better man.

    2. Okonkwa values everything his father did not. He values family, friends, and pride. He also values that fact that in order to obtain something in life, you must work hard for it. (Okonkwa's father had a "live-for-today, not-tomorrow," type of attitude.

    3. Based on what I have read so far, I believe that Okonkwa's fear of becoming the type of man his father was, will push him to become just that.

  26. -I agree with many of the people above me (Luis, Scarlet, Belenys, etc.) Because Okonkwo fears becoming like his father so much, he will eventually fall in his footstep and travel down the path of destruction.
