  1. Agamemnons was rude and he didn't like the priest, he was disrespectful in alot of ways. "Behave well to the priest. And take the ransom" (Page 127 line 28) He refused to do that and he ordered the priest away from what I understand about the reading. Also he is mean and cruel in a way, On page 132 he threatens Achilles by telling him that he is going to send the girl on his ship and have his men handle her if Achilles doesn't claim equal at place with him. I am having difficulty understanding this hopefully with answers from other classmates I will understand.

  2. From what I understood in the reading, I think that Agamemnon is very stubborn and he would do what ever he has to do or hurt who ever he has to in order to get what he wants because he is so powerful and he is the king of Mycenae. He is also very harsh. I don’t understand what girl they are talking about. Are they referring to this girl as a prize that they want to win? (pg131 lines 160-165)

  3. From the text we have read i think that the relationship between Agamemnon and achilles is a very strong and in tense relationship.i believe this becuase Achilles is the strogest greek warrior that creats tension and Agamemnon is in a higher postion.I learned in th dialogue is that he likes to take over and run everything
    - Can someone clear it up a little bit more for me please ad thak you

  4. In the reading i read Agamemnon isnt one of the nicest people in the book. His the kind of person that wants things done his way and wants it done at his time. He is the king of Mycenae and a very powerful ruler. I feel like he can be nice at times to get what he wants.

  5. The Illiad is kind of hard to understand, but from what I got to understand Agamemnon is an evil person! Since he is also the king of Mycenae, I thik he gives himself more credit to do what he wants (or thinks is right). He's the type of person that uses people to benifit himself and then steps all over them when he's gotten what he wants.

  6. Agamemnon is the type who will cause trouble, or make someone angry. He is harsh and straight foward. He is very Brutal and rude. And this speaks about taking a lady to keep. ( page 131) which i was really confused about. He also begs Agamemnon to return his daughter and offers to pay a large amount. And they suffered for 10 days? Thats all i understand from this reading.

  7. To my understanding... Agamemnon is a grim persuasive character. He's ruthless to the priest and use's the priest's fear against him. He try's to spoil himself by wanting Chryseis as his prize. Agamemnon and Achilles have a powerful relationship. Achilles has an influence over Agamemnon in which he's able to try and stop him from his bad descions. Agamemnon respects the gods, but he still does what ever he can to get what he wants.

  8. Agamemnon is the king of Mycenae and the commander-in-chief of the armies. Despite the fact that he is king and has enormous power, I believe that he is not the best qualified for the role of a leader. The more you read into The Iliad you realize that Agamemnon is a weak leader. He's stubborn and hot-headed. He allows his emotions and his selfishness to get in the way of making the right decisions in certain situations. As a king/leader it is his job to ensure order. Because Agamemnon is weak and needs someone to "teach" him, Nestor tries to give him advice but Agamemnon is too stubborn to listen. Achilles-another hot-headed Greek- and Agamemnon have a very tense relationship. They're constantly "bumping heads" with eachother. Agamemnon tries taking Briseis from Achilles (Nestor advises him not to do so but he doesn't listen) which later on complicates things for all.

  9. From what i understood from he reading Agamemnon is a bad leader he is selffish and only thinks about himself. also he want all the prizes to himself like the girl n at one point he say that the girl is better than his wife. also Achilles i think he leaves because he doesnt want to make Agamemnon richer from his hard work. Agamemnon tell Achilles that he will not tell him to stay because there will be other people that will worship him

  10. Agamemnon was a man who didnt like to get bothered. If something bothered him, he would do something in return that wasn't so good. Also he is someone who always wants it to go his way. If it doesnt got his way, then it wont happen at all. Agamemnon is also protrayed as someone who is greedy and "thick-skinned."

  11. From the reading, It proves to show that Agamemnon's character is a very ruthless and leader type person. He doesn't prove to be the best leader, but his stubbornness and ignorance prevents him from getting the respect a real leader should. Hopefully we will see a change in this. But as of right now he is looking like he will retain much success.

  12. From the reading I can conclude that Agamemnon is known to be a great leade of this time. He is a man who demands attention and wants everything his way. As the story concludes his weak sides beging to show due to selfishness and being such a hot head it holds him back from being a better leader then he can be.The reason that Agamemnon still feels he is a great leader because he is still followed by others due to him having followers he feels as if his power is secured yet he isn't a good leader because his weeaknesses bring him down.

  13. Based on what I read Agamemnon is an angry, evil person. He allows himself to become his own enemy and it gets in the way of his leadership. I don't think he has what it takes to be a leader.

  14. From the reading I understand that Agememnon is the king of Mycenae. He wanted everything in his way because he was a powerful person. He was a bad leader. Agememnon needed someone to teach him, like Nestor that give him advice, but Everything that he think it was right for him.

  15. Based on the reading, Agamemnon appears to be a very stubborn person. He is also very intimidating. He sort of reminds of a Hitler; he's intimidating and wants things his way no matter what. He probably has the potential to be a great leader but his stubborn, one-track-mindedness keeps him from making the right choices.

  16. Agamemnon rules with an iron fist and isn't scared of anyone. Because he is a king , he thinks he has all the power in the world.

  17. Agamemnon was a very rude boy. he was very manipulative and used fear to get what he wanted from the people. he also like to make wrong choices which then turn out bad because he is very stuburn

  18. All that i pretty much concluded from the Iliad is that Agamemnon is a very selfish ignorant man. He dosent care about anyone else of the dammages that he may cause with his actions. There was also a part in the reading were hene told Athena to watch for how many mwn were killed durring the war and to then report back to heaven to tell the powers. There was also this thing about a girl being the prize to thw winning person in the war, which i think had to do with a ship war. i honestly didnt understand much about the reading but hopefully ill understand durring our discussion in class today.

  19. I didnt really understand the reading but Aamemnon seems like a kind of person that likes to imtimidate people. He's powerful and seems like he takes advantage of his power. Hes rude and hes like a warrior, he s not scared of anyone

  20. To my understanding in regards to Book 1, Aamemnon is perceived as a very sneaky, malicious, and manipulating character seeing as one way or another he wants to get his way with either Chryseis or Briseis. Achilles is clearly a very prideful character since he is humiliated and infuriated with Agamenon's demands to give Brisers as compensation if Chryseis is returned.

  22. This is a really hard story to understand. Aamemnon was the son of King Atreus, he was a powerful leader. Aamemon didn't like to be told what to do and everyone feared him. Nothing scared him and he tries to take control of everything
