2nd Semester Junior English Class

Hello Students!

This quarter we will be trying out something new! Since you are all spending so much of your time on the internet, I thought we would put it to some use.  From now on I will be posting assignments onto this blog as well as questions on future reading assignments.....this will keep you from the "I didn't understand the reading".  If you find yourself confused with the reading simply post your question and wait for an answer.  I will guide literary discussions and you all will be asked to respond.  This way we won't have to rely on writing in notebooks all of the time.
Let's save paper and save time!

  4. The syllabus says log onto the blog for a discussion after reading the intro to the illiad so ... I read the intro and there was a lot of information on Homers background such as how he was from Ionia and was about of a legendary story teller group called Rhapsodes. Also his influence for writing the Illiad (the Trojan war ) . Homers writing style for the Illiad is also explained.

  6. I read the introduction. So Homer uses conventions to help his reader understand the story more? and was the only reason for the start of the Trojan War the abduction of Hellen?

  8. Ok so I read the intro to the Illiad and like Diandra said, there's a lot of information ! I don't really understand though .. What I did get from it though was that it's talking about Homers background and why he wrote the Illiad.
